Maura Pierlot’s play Fragments, which explores mental health issues faced by young people, is being adapted into a series of short films available for the digital space. Eight Canberra based filmmakers have been selected to take on the task to adapt a monologue from the play and turn it into a visually creative and experimental short film.

The 8 filmmakers selected are:

Declan Shrubb

Carl Emmerson

Denai Gracie

Victoria Hopkins

Julia Faragher

Joshua Koske

Matthew Thompson

Anthea Staats

Canberra film producer Dan Sanguineti of Sanguineti Media Pictures will mentor, support and guide each filmmaker through their productions, with the films shot in Canberra once COVID lockdowns have eased. A number of experienced local screen practitioners will also take on key crew roles.

The films will hopefully be completed by the end of year and be available online individually and as part of a larger work.

Maura Pierlot will act as Executive Producer on the project, with the play’s original director Shelly Higgs taking on a Creative Director role. The initiative is supported by the ACT Government through ArtsACT.
